Obituary for Agnes A. Nolan
Agnes (Sossong) Nolan passed away peacefully on June 28, 2021. Agnes was born on the family farm in Portage Township on December 25, 1938, to Anthony and Gertrude “Enderlein” Sossong. Agnes is preceded in death by her brother Ken Sossong and brothers-in-law Joseph Nolan, Ronald "RD" Davis and her sisters-in-law Lolita and Geraldine Sossong. She is survived by her brothers Ronald, Anthony, Thomas (Hilda Borlie), Raymond (Vikki Berkheimer), Robert (Fran Popchak), sisters Shirley Davis and Kathleen (Bill Bickleman) and sister-in-law Rose (Wenke) Nolan. Agnes is survived by her husband: David "Dates" Nolan and her sons David and wife Donna (Whiteford), Raymond and wife Susan (Yahner), Mark and wife Sharon (McCarthy) and daughter Kimberly (Nolan) and husband Douglas Hodge. She is also survived by her grandchildren Josh (Kristie Littlehale), Christina (Nolan) and Chad Franey, Layne, Scott (Dana Bodenschatz), Zach (Kristen McGough), Katie, Jake, Delana and Ryan. Her great-grandchildren include Alayna and Charlotte Nolan, Grace and Emily Franey and Brock Nolan. Sis cared deeply for her family and friends, always making time for everyone. Not out of obligation, but because of who she was. Agnes was an employee at Cambria Residential for many years until selflessly giving up here career to help raise her grandchildren. She always ensured that her grandchildren stayed safe, happy and ate healthy while with her. Sis will be remembered for her kindness and love for others. There is one happiness in life, to love and be loved. Sis was loved. May her memory be a blessing. Viewing will be held on Thursday July 1, 2021, from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM, at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., in Portage. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church at 10 AM on Friday, July 2, 2021 at 509 Caldwell Avenue Portage, PA, Fr. Thomas Stabile, Celebrant. At the Nolan Family’s suggestion, memorial contributions may be made in Agnes’ name to Crichton McCormick Park, PO Box 193, Portage, PA 15946.
