Obituary for Agnes L. Sanford
82 of Cassandra, passed away on June 9, 2021 in Ebensburg. She was born on August 7, 1938 in Syracuse, NY. Agnes was the daughter of Dennis and Hariett (Kozikowski) Benjack. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband: James Sanford, Sr.; her son: James Sanford, Jr.; her daughter: Diane Benjack; special friend: Dennis W. Merva and her sisters: Cindy Vallier and Theresa Benjack. Agnes is survived by her children: Patricia wife of Floyd Rousell, Jr. of Portage; Sherry Johnson of Oswego, NY; Mark Sanford and wife Patricia (Watt) of Portage; and Laurie wife of Joseph Sonoski of Johnstown. She is also survived by Numerous Grand, Great Grandchildren, 3 Great Great Grandchildren and her siblings: Barbara Swortfigre; Maryann Matthews and Dennis Benjack Jr. and his wife Carol, all of E. Syracuse, NY. Family was important to Agnes. She will be remembered for her big holiday meals and baking and cooking for her family and friends. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Portage and the Portage Senior Center. In the past, Agnes enjoyed a good game of bingo with her friends. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. in Portage. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 14, 2021 at 10 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church in Portage, Fr. Kevin Queally, Celebrant. Committal will be held in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Cresson. On-line condolences may be made at www.decortfh.com.
