Dipko, Alex G. Jr., 76 of Portage, passed away on November 13, 2024 in Windber. He was born on November 14, 1947 in Johnstown. Alex was the son of Mary (Petney) and Alex Dipko, Sr. He is preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law: Ida June (Brunnet) and Edward Costlow and his brother-in-law: Robert Penix.
Alex is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jolie Mae (Costlow) Dipko and their children: Becky wife of Mike Baker, Cindy wife of Erick Brickley, both of Portage, Alex Gene Dipko III and fiance’ Carrie Salata of South Fork and Mary wife of Matt Boland of Portage. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Noah and Nick Baker, Jon and Luke Brickley, Jenel and Alex Gene Dipko IV, Graycee Kehn, Evan and Tyler Boland. Alex was the brother of Shirley Penix of Ohio and Larry Dipko and wife Debra (Ruffley) of Portage.
Alex served his Country proudly as a well decorated US Army Vietnam Veteran in the Recon Big Red One. He was a member of the Portage American Legion, Portage Revolver and Pistol Club, and a Life Member of the NRA and the North America Hunting Club. He was a former member of the Portage Car Club and he enjoyed hunting for over 26 years out West, making many trips to Colorado. Alex worked as a union carpenter for over 33 years in Local 423.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM on Sunday, November 17th, 2024 at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. in Portage where a service will be held on Monday, November 18th, 2024 at 10 AM, Jack Seymour, officiant.
