Obituary for Andrea Fedore Sims
Fedore Sims, Andrea – 70 of Portage, passed away on March 19, 2017 at home. She was born on November 8, 1946 in Johnstown. She is the daughter of Andrew and Bertha (Lukosavich) Fedore. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Michael Fedore and her long-time companion: John Branas.
Andrea is survived by her loving children: Kennith Sims of Portage, Suzanne (Thomas) Petrore of Westmont and Christine Sims (Steve Manges), of Altoona and her granddaughter: Leah Petrore of Westmont. Andrea is the sister of Suzanne (Matthews “Buzz”) Sawyer of MO; and Andrew J. Fedore (MaryLou Astorino) of Johnstown. She is also survived by her nieces: Dawn and Jill and her nephews Michael and Max.
Andrea is a 1964 graduate of Portage Area High School. She began her career at the Cambria County Courthouse in 1974 and was elected as the Recorder of Deeds in 1991. She loved her job and serving the public. She retired in 2015. Andrea took pride in her community and civic involvements. Some of her affiliations were: Pennsylvania Federation of Democratic Women, Pennsylvania Recorder of Deeds Association, Cambria County Historical Society, and Portage Rotary Club. Most importantly Andrea loved spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved going on vacation with her granddaughter. Andrea will be remembered for her dedicated caregiving to her family and assisting many friends in need.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM on Wednesday at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. of Portage. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM on Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Portage, Fr. Kevin Queally, celebrant.
