Obituary for Andrew M. Teno
Andrew M. Teno Jr. of Portage passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at the age of 87. He was
born on April 21, 1935 in Johnstown. Andrew was the son of Andrew, Sr. and Elizabeth (Sedlak)
Teno. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother James. Andrew is survived by
his loving wife of 64 years, Helen J. (Krull) Teno, and their children: Kathy and Harold DeLozier,
Karen and John Bilchak, Teresa and Don Washam, Linda and Richard Leahey, Carol and H.
Troy Layo and Andrew and Tracy (Oravecz).
He is survived by his 16 grandchildren: Christian and Allyson (Heslop) DeLozier, Laura
(DeLozier) and Jared Heslop, Matthew and Sara (Lutz) Bilchak, Jared and Gabrielle (Gouse)
Bilchak, Jackie (Washam) and Rick Cekovsky, Josh Washam, Richie and Katrina (Pappas)
Leahey, Corey Leahey, Kariann (Leahey) and Dylan Steberger, Anthony and Brianna (Kearney)
Leahey, Trenton and Maggie (Madison) Layo, Alexa (Layo) and Steve Ciez, Savannah (Layo)
and Bailey Kerch, Nathan, Jenna, and Mackenzie Teno.
Andrew is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren: Lucy and Levi Bilchak, Noah, Dominic, and
Sophia Bilchak, Janette, Jocelyn, and Rosalie Cekovsky, Cindel and Richard Leahey, III,
Anthony and Aliza Leahey, Madilynn and Lydia Steberger, and Therese Heslop. He is also
survived by his sister-in-law, Lorraine Teno, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews,
cousins and their families.
Andrew drove tractor trailers for 40 years, hauling steel and fuel. He and his wife founded a
business in 1981, Teno’s Truck and Auto. The business is currently owned and operated by his
son, Andy. Even at 87, Andrew stopped in at the shop every day to help his son. He enjoyed
spending time with customers and seeing all his friends who came in regularly. He loved his
family and never missed attending the activities of his children, grandchildren, and
great-grandchildren. His family was the greatest joy of his life.
At Andrew’s request, his service and burial will be private with his family at the Matthew R.
Decort Funeral Home Inc. of Portage. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be
made to the Alzheimers Association or the Portage Ambulance Association.
