Kordish, Annabelle “Ann” – 94 of Portage, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2022 at home, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 7, 1927 in Portage. Ann was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Hannakan) Novotny.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her grandchildren: Jennifer Smith and Donald “Donnie” Smith, her siblings: Mary George, Julia Nagy, Genevieve Shaw, Dorothy Kuzeck and George Novotny, her godson and nephew: Bob Nagy and her friend and companion: Francis “Frank” McClain.
Ann is survived by her children: Paula Smith and companion Dave Gentile of Portage and Louis “Lou” Kordish and wife Maria (Sossong) of Portage. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Robyn wife of Dan Huschak, Heidi (Kordish) Haynes and Matt Kordish and wife Ann (Heinrich), her great grandchildren: Kayla wife of Rick Thompson, Brady Huschak and Fiance’ Allison Jones, Louis, Catherine, Elsie, Matthew and Jonathan Kordish and Hannah Haynes and her great great grandchildren: Kendall and Cole Thompson, her sisters: Joan Wilwohl and Jean Smay, both of Pittsburgh and a sister-in-law: Bonnie (Brewer) Novotny of Summerhill.
Ann was a retired employee of the Portage Silk Mill and the Empire Foundations. She was a life member of the former Portage Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxillary, the Portage American Legion Ladies Auxillary. She enjoyed going camping and listening to polka bands. Most important to Ann was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also looked forward, every year, to the Novotny Family Reunion and spending time with her relatives.
Family will receive friends 6 to 8 PM on Friday, September 2, 2022 at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc in Portage. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 10 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church in Portage, Fr. Thomas Stabile, Celebrant. Committal will be held in St. Mary Cemetery in Portage.
