Obituary for Anthony D. Mignogna
Mignogna, Anthony D. - 93 of Portage, passed away on April 21, 2013 at Maple Winds Nursing Care Center in Portage. Born February 8, 1920 in Portage. The son of Joseph and Rosa (Amorosa) Mignogna. Proceeded in death by parents, brother John, sisters: Florence Glista and Gloria Delimata and In-laws: John Glista, Annie Mignogna and Dale Howieson. Survived by loving wife of 64 years the former Jean Martinelli and these children: Noreen wife of Dan Tremel of Portage, Mary Lynn Novelli of Texas, Joe Mignogna and wife Theresa (Tranquillo), all of Texas, Tony Mignogna of Cresson, Lisa wife of Joe Mink of Texas and granddaughter: Toni Lynn, whom he helped to raise. Also survived by 11 grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren. Brother of Eugene Mignogna, Albert Mignogna and wife Clara and In-laws: Pete Delimata, Rosella Howieson, Geno and Rosemarie Martinelli, numerous nieces and nephews and special caregivers: Rena Saccol and Mary bertram and Shawn Watt. Tony served our country as a World War II Army Veteran. He was a former Superintendent of the Portage Water Authority with over 50 years of service and he was a life member of the PA Water Operators. A Past president of the Portage Sewer Authority and a life time member of the Portage Fire Department, where he served as president from 1960-1975. A life-long member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and a member of People Helping People. He was a founding member of the Portage Area Ambulance Association and he was inaugurated as the first class into the Portage Hall of Fame. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday and from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 PM on Thursday at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. of Portage, where a vigil will be held for Tony, Thursday Evening. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 10 AM at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Portage, Fr. Walter Moll, Celebrant and Deacon Joe Mignogna. Committal will be held at St. Bartholomew Church Cemetery in Wilmore. Graveside military rites by the Portage Ritual Team. In Lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Tony's name to the Portage Area Ambulance Association, Portage Area Volunteer Fire Company and or St. Josephs People Helping People.
