Obituary for Anthony S. Farren, Jr.

Farren, Anthony S., Jr. - 80 of Portage, passed away on October 11, 2022 with his family by his side. He was born on January 14, 1942 in Portage. Anthony was the son of Anthony S., Sr. and Anna (Patrick) Farren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his infant grandson, Corey James and his sister, Lillian Scarton.


Anthony is survived by his loving wife of 59 years: LaWanda M. (Beba) Farren of Portage and their children: Suzanne wife of Dennis Miller, Sandra Llewellyn and Fiance’ Anthony Chippie, Toni Marie wife of Tom Riskus and Anthony Farren III and wife Heather. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Chris Miller (Liz), Katie Miller, Richard Llewellyn “R.T”, Mahra, Abagael and Abbi Riskus and Anthony Farren IV, “A.J.” and great grandchildren: Levi, Josie, Jaxson and Colton. He will also be missed by his sister-in-law: Winifred wife of Dan Fels and his special friends and caregivers, Katrina Walker and Yvonne Galan.


Anthony was a 1959 graduate of Portage Area Highschool. He was a former Carpenter Foreman for the Ebensburg State Center. He was self-employed in cabinet making, furniture upholstery and repairs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and gardening. Anthony was a lifetime gold card member of the Jamestown Rod and Gun Club.


Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. in Portage where a Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 11 AM., Fr. Thomas Stabile. Committal will be private to the immediate family.


In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Anthony’s name to the Jamestown Rod and Gun, 247 Sportsmans Road, Portage, PA 15946, for the Youth Field Day and the Trout Derby. On-line condolences may be made at www.decortfh.com
