Obituary for Blanche Mathieson
Mathieson, Blanche - 90 of Portage. Passed away on January 22, 2018 in Portage. She was born on October 26, 1927 in Coupon. She was the daughter of Joseph and Julie (Schekon) Vinglass. Blanche is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wallace Mathieson, granddaughter: Stacey Rocker, grandson: Travis Mathieson, and her siblings: John, Joseph, Walter “Eddie”, Josephine Drunak, Mary Bobetich, Pauline Trexler, Rosemarie Vinglass and infant siblings Paul and Annie.
She is survived by her children: Bonnie wife of Sheldon Wissinger, Cindy wife of Ray Danel, Devon “Butch” Mathieson, Terry Mathieson, Gloria wife of Rick Rocker, and Julie wife of John Sklarsky, Blanche is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and her sister: Dorothy Dewey.
She was a retired employee of the former Best Form. Blanche loved to travel and gamble.
At Blanche’s request there will be no viewing or visitation. Family will receive friends at the Chapel in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Johnstown on Thursday at 12 PM for a Memorial Service, Fr. Kevin Queally, officiant.
The Mathieson Family would like to give a special thank you to Maple Winds Nursing Care Center and their staff for the love, care and support that they showed to their mother, Blanche, during her stay.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Blanches name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The Mathieson Family is being served by the Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. of Portage.
