Obituary for Carole B. Miller
Miller, Carole B. (O’Reilly) – 82 of Summerhill, passed away on April 30, 2022 in Windber. She was born on June 12, 1939 in Johnstown. Carole was the daughter of Dorothy (Brown) and Charles Burkett. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister: Wendy (Burkett) wife of Larry Gallagher, brother: Charlie Burkett and nephew: Roddy Garofalow.
Carole is survived by her beloved husband: James K. Miller, Sr. of Summerhill and her loving and caring sister: Joyce wife of Ralph Napotnik of Holsopple, a sister Darla Thompson of Johnstown and James children: Kimberlie wife of Michael Mangina of NJ, Karen wife of John Devigilli of NJ and James Miller and wife Shannon of Johnstown, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Carole is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Susan Gallagher of NC, Shelli wife of Michael Lysic of Jerome, Julie Napotnik of Johnstown, Shannon Crist of MD, Stefanie Thomas of Davidsville, Darey Susko of VA, Patrick Gallagher and wife Michelle (Dubois) of VA, Jaret Garofalow of Johnstown, Luke Susko of Johnstown, Stephen and wife Tina Napotnik of Johnstown, David Napotnik of SC, Bonnie wife of Thomas Pazel, Victoria Burkett, Richie Burkett and Michael Burkett all of NJ and numerous great and great great nieces and nephews.
Carole also was loved and will be missed by her special friends: Ann O’Conner and Josie Breslin of PA, Teresita Michalosky of Summerhill, Rita and Charlie Pallotti of NJ and Sara Bruinoge of FL. Carole was 17 years old when her Aunt took her to New York City. She started to work for Union Dime Savings in New York City where she thrived and became the first female officer at the bank. She went on to work in Human Resource Management for several financial institutions in New York and at many law firms in New Jersey. Carole loved all the people she met and helped many of them in their careers. Carole did not have an ounce of hate in her body. She loved traveling, reading, decorating her house and shopping at Kohls. She loved finding and giving unique gifts for family and friends.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 6 PM on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home Inc. in Portage.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Carole’s name to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Avenue, Windber, PA 15963. Carole’s husband Jim would like to personally thank the nurses and staff at Windber Hospice for making Carole’s journey pleasant. You all are very loving and caring.
