Obituary for Courtney Lee Alexander
ALEXANDER, Courtney Lee, 37, daughter of Louis W. and Laura M. (Costello) Alexander found her peace June 10, 2017. Courtney was born March 25, 1980 in Altoona. She gifted this world with two beautiful children, KyLeigh Lynette Alexander (January 15, 2002) and Kane William Alexander (November 16, 2009). In addition to her children, she is survived by her parents, grandmothers, Rhea Costello and Ruth Alexander, and her sister, Kristen L. Gribbin, her brother-in-law, Ryan Gribbin, and nieces, Haley, Madison, Anneka Gribbin, and nephew, Roland Gribbin. Preceded in death by her grandfathers, William Alexander and Earl F. Costello.
Courtney was a 1998 graduate of Portage Area High School. Enjoyed cheerleading and was awarded a board scholarship to Cambria County Community College. Attended several schools and received an associate degree in Criminal Justice from Everest University Online. Spent much time on the internet, keeping things interesting on Facebook. Acquired a love of all types of history from her father. Enjoyed watching movies with her kids. Avid television watcher, from comedy to ghost chasing and binge watched her favorite old shows, such as Dallas and Roseanne. Infatuated with, and collected items on, Marilyn Monroe. Had a versatile taste in music; was raised on the oldies and classic rock. Among her favorite bands were Led Zeppelin, Marilyn Manson, Evans Blue (whom she met) and The Used, for whom her chest tattoo was in tribute In Love and Death. Lover of ink with each tat having a special meaning. Rescued her share of animals, including current cats, Reese, Daisy and Lily, and dog, Max, who will miss her. Loved her Yankee Candles. She leaves her children with the memory of their recent vacation together to Cape Cod.
Family will receive friends from 2PM until time of service at 4 PM on Tuesday, June 13th at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. of Portage, Pastor Bob Penner, officiant.
