Obituary for Darlene L. Shaner
Shaner, Darlene L. 81 of Lilly, passed away on September 12, 2024 at home with her family at her side. She was born on October 2, 1942. Darlene was the daughter of Andrew Lukacs and Helen (Stossel) Penko. She is preceded in death by her parents, her paternal grandparents, who loved and raised her, Matthew and Kathyrn (Koch) Lukacs, her infant son, Joel Matthew Shaner, her daughter-in-law, Anna Shaner and her granddaughter-in-law, Kristen Shaner.
Darlene is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Don Shaner of Lilly and their children: Jackie wife of Frank Swires of Lilly, John Shaner of MD, Jill wife of Luis Rivera of MD and June wife of Andy Hutsky of Lilly. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Darlene was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Wilmore. She loved her quilting club and social gatherings with her friends. She was an Auxillary member of the Legion of Mary. Most important to Darlene and her husband Don was their family. Family is everything. Together they raised four wonderful children. They enjoyed working their family farm, gardening and spending time with their children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren and instilling family values and traditions. The Shaner
Family will receive friends from 2 to 6 PM on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home Inc. in Portage. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024 at 10 AM at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Wilmore, Fr. Joseph Nale, Celebrant. Interment in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Cresson.
