Obituary for Donald David Anderson
Anderson, Donald David - 77 of Portage, passed away on July 24, 2021 in Portage. He was born on June 7, 1944 in Binghamton, NY. He was the son of Donald C. and Mary (Jehu) Anderson. Don is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Thomas E. Anderson and his sister, Cathy Vargo. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ina (Eny) Anderson, who he married on January 20, 1968. He is also survived by the loves of his life: Bill, Kimberly, Madison and Emma Moyer and Larry and Susan Coulson; his brother-in-law: Mike Vargo and his nieces and nephews: Jennifer Vargo, Jill, Craig, Madison and Avery Cavalet and David, Kara, Pierce and Gabriel Vargo. Don was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the US Navy aboard the USS Hancock CVA19, serving three tours in Tonkin Gulf. He was a recipient of the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two stars, National Defense Medal and the Meritorious Unit Citation. He was a member of the Cresson Legion, Post # 238 and the Sankertown VFW Post # 7377. Don graduated from Cresson Joint High School in 1962. He received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Elementary Education from St. Francis University in 1976. Don was formerly employed by Conrail and Penn Central as a clerk and he managed several finance companies. At Don’s request there will be no viewing or visitation.
