Obituary for Dorothy L. Callen
Callen, Dorothy L. -92 of Portage. Passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Laurel Wood Care Center in Johnstown. Born July 24, 1921 in Johnstown, the daughter of Roy A. and Rachel (Webb) Withers. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Callen, parents, brother: Edwin, sisters: Kathleen Kewitz and husband Jack, Charlotte "Tory" Taylor and husband Jack and nephew Jack Taylor Jr. Survived by sons: Ronald C. married to the former Dana Zook of Tallahassee, FL; and Donald L. married to the former Mary Hufford of Portage. Also survived by grandchildren: Scott of Tallahassee, FL and Lisa of Kansas City, Kansas; 2 great grandchildren and nieces: Patty Ann Cousins of Archibold, OH; Deanna Kaufman of Johnstown, PA and Sue Mrugacz of Johnstown, OH. Prior to retiring in 1985, Dorothy worked in the finance department for Swaglok Corporation as a bookkeeper. She was a former president for the Ladies Auxillary of the Johnstown BPO Elks Lodge in the 1960s. She enjoyed traveling and she was an avid reader. At the familys request there will be no public viewing. Private committal at Grandview Cemetery in Johnstown. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Dorothy's name to the Alzheimer Foundation of America. The Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home, Inc. of Portage is serving the Callen family.
