Cassisi, Dr. Nicholas F. DMD, 73 of Lilly, passed away on September 1, 2024 in Altoona.
Born in Altoona on March 6, 1951, Nick was the son of Peter and Catherine (Eny) Cassisi. He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters Roseanne Novotny and Mary Louise Kiel. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy (Corte) Cassisi of Lilly and their sons, Dr. Aaron N. Cassisi (wife Dr. Elizabeth) of Gibsonia, PA, Alex C. Cassisi (wife Julia) of Cranford, NJ, and brother Frank (wife Joann) of Hollidaysburg, PA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Andrew, Claire, Benjamin, Charlotte, John and Ryan. Nick is also survived by special family friend, Sherri Cressman and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Nick was a 1972 graduate of University of Pittsburgh, obtaining a Bachelors in Science. In 1975, he completed his Masters of Science from IUP. In 1983, he obtained his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh.
He established many friendships, lifelong connections and created a positive experience for his patients over his 30 years of dental practice. He was also a former instructor at the YTI Career Institute in the Dental Assisting Program. Nick was an active member of Our Lady of the Alleghenies Church in Lilly, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and a Lector. More recently, Nick enjoyed being a member of the Sacred Heart Ushers Club. Whether it was spending time at the beach, taking the grandchildren on tractor rides, or making “Pap-Pap’s Famous Applesauce” the core of his life was his family. Second to family, he enjoyed traveling around the world with “The Group” for many years, bowling a perfect ‘300’ game, and many golf trips to the Outer Banks.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 8 PM on Friday, September 6th, 2024 at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. in Portage. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, September 7th. 2024 at Our Lady of the Alleghenies Church in Lilly, Fr. Matthew Reese and Deacon Samuel Albarano.
Committal will be private to the immediate family.
