Obituary for Eldred P. "Eldy" Shoff
Shoff, Eldred P. “Eldy” – 89 of Portage, passed away on June 5, 2019 in Windber. He was born on May 5, 1930 in Johnstown. Eldy was the son of Paul Shoff and Anna (Goldener) Shoff-Anderson. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Peggy R. (Clapperton) Shoff, his son: Kenneth Ray Shoff and his in-laws: Joe and Barbara Shandor, Gale Philbrick and Charles and Lois Jaap.
Eldy is survived by his children: Robert Shoff and wife Joelle (Offman) of Cassandra, Todd Shoff and Wife Carol (Ickes) of Hamburg, NY, Kris Shoff of Cairnbrook and Leigh Ann Hutsky and husband Michael of Mechanicsburg. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Joshua Shoff and wife Maria (Bernazzoli) of Wilkes-Barre, Cory Shoff and wife Jennifer (Dunmyer) of Portage, Kaitlyn and Jacob Shoff of Hamburg, NY, Nicole Crowell, and Taylor and Rachel Shoff, all of Cresson, and Lauren and Adam Hutsky of Mechanicsburg and Great Grandchildren: Conor, Margaret, Ellie, and Catalina Shoff. Eldy is the brother of Robert N. Shoff and wife Rose of Portage.
He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Portage American Legion Post #430. Eldy was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was formerly employed by the A & P Tea Company as a butcher and he was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union. He enjoyed boating, fishing, camping and golfing. Most important to Eldy was spending time with his family.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM on Friday, June 7, 2019 at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 11 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church in Portage, Pastor Arthur Black, Officiant. Committal will be held in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Johnstown. Graveside Military Honors by the local Veterans Organizations.
