Obituary for Ethel M. Gressick
Gressick, Ethel M. “Tillie” – 85 of Portage, passed away on February 6, 2017 in Johnstown. She was born on December 20, 1931 in Cassandra. She was the daughter of Margaret (Shaw) and Raymond Freidhof, Sr. She is preceded in death by her parents, son: Leo J. Gressick, Sr., grandson: Steven P. Gressick , infant sister: Elizabeth; brothers: Henry, Thomas and Paul Freidhof and brother-in-law: Walter Kiel.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years: Paul V. Gressick, Sr. whom she married on July 11, 1953. She is also survived by her children: Paul V. Gressick, Jr. and wife Bonnie (Schrift); Mary Jane Gressick; John Gressick and wife Julia (Lee); Carol wife of Melvin Lee, Jr. and Alice wife of Joe Lee, all of Portage and daughter-in-law: Karen Gressick of Portage; 25 Grandchildren, 34 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren on the way.
Ethel is the sister of Margaret wife of James Gailey; Raymond “Goob” Freidhof, Jr and wife Rosemary (Ahles); George “Worm” Freidhof and wife Jane Schrift; Hazel wife of Ermin Wirfel, Jane Kiel; Janet wife of John Knapp all of Munster; Mary wife of Larry Springer of Carrolltown, Dorothy wife of Regis Lee of Munster and sister-in-law: Ann Freidhof of Nicktown. Ethel enjoyed cooking, gardening and watching her hummingbirds on the farm but most importantly, family was everything to her.
Family will receive friends from 3 to 8 PM on Friday at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. of Portage. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 10 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church of Portage, Fr. Kevin Queally, Celebrant. Committal in St. Bartholomew Church Cemetery in Wilmore.
