Obituary for Floyd J. Rousell, Jr.
Rousell, Floyd J. Jr., - 66 of Portage, passed away on May 17, 2022 at home. He was born on July 9, 1955 in Syracuse, NY. He was the son of Evelyn (Rouselle) and Floyd Rousell, Sr. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Don and a sister, Mary.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife of 38 years: Patricia “Patty” (Sanford) Rousell. They were married on June 25, 1983. He is also survived by his sons: Floyd J. Rousell, III and wife Holly (Troutman), Christian J. Rousell and wife Nichole (Weakland) and Bradley P. Rousell and wife Kayla (Grove) and his granddaughters: Elizabeth and Evelyn Rousell, all of Portage. Floyd is also survived by his sister: Patricia Rousell “Pat” of Syracuse, NY and in-laws: Sherry Johnson of Portage, Mark Sanford and wife Patty of Portage and Laurie wife of Joseph Sonoski of Johnstown and many nieces, nephews and extended family members and his grand dogs: Zeus and Lilly.
Floyd was a retired mechanic and machine operator for Page Bedding. Floyd began volunteering as a firefighter at the age of 18. He was a life member of the Portage Volunteer Fire Company. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Portage and he served as a past Eucharistic Minister at the former St. Joseph Catholic Church in Portage. He loved to hunt and work on cars when he could. Most important to Floyd was family and spending time with his wife, his sons and his granddaughters. He was a huge fan of the Portage Area Mustang Football Team and he can still be heard saying: “1-2-3, Hit Somebody!”
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM on Friday, May 20, 2022 at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. in Portage. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 10 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church in Portage, Fr. Thomas Stabile, Celebrant. Committal will be private to the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Portage Area Volunteer Fire Company, 721 Main Street, Portage, PA 15946.
