Obituary for Francis R. Shedlock
Shedlock, Francis R. “Fritz” – 95 of Lilly, passed away on September 26, 2023 in Altoona. He was born on August 28, 1928 in Benscreek, Portage Township. Fritz was the son of John and Mary (Morris) Shedlock. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Dolores J. “Dorie” (Muldoon) Shedlock and these siblings: Joseph, Steve, John, Michael, Edward and Albert Shedlock and Elizabeth Bruck, Mary Sitar, Margaret Vandzura and Helen Shedlock.
He is survived by his sister Dorothy wife of the late Leonard Scoran and many nieces and nephews.
Fritz was a US Army Korean War Veteran. He worked many jobs over the years including the local shoe factory, maintenance man at the Cambria County Courthouse and a coal miner for Bethlehem Mine #33. Fritz was a lifetime member of the Benscreek Social and Citizens Club and a member of the Industrial Baseball League. He enjoyed country music and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 11 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church in Portage, Fr. Thomas Stabile, Celebrant. Committal in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Portage. On-line condolences may be made at www.decortfh.com
