Obituary for George T. "Georgie" Pauley
Pauley, George T. Jr. “Georgie” – 48 of Ebensburg, peacefully passed away on July 6, 2021 at Cambria Care Center in Ebensburg with his parents by his side. Over the past 18 years at CCC, Georgie and his family enjoyed dining and socializing with other residents, attending special events like Prom and celebrating family birthdays and holidays in "Georgie's dining room". He was always a gracious host and he truly loved food! He was born on September 16, 1972 in Johnstown. At the age of four, Georgie had a seizure and was in a coma in a Harrisburg hospital. He was not expected to live but with the intercession of St. Theresa the Little Flower, Georgie walked out of that hospital. He loved to ride his bike, go trick or treating, attend family cook outs, eat out with friends and family and go to annual Boy Scout Camp with his Dad. He was an excellent swimmer and loved to swim at Little Buffalo State Park and the Ebensburg Boro pool. He attended Clelian Heights School for Exceptional Children in Greensburg where he participated in many Special Olympics. He performed in several school plays at the Palace Theater in Greensburg. In 2003, Georgie was in a coma for 3 months in a Pittsburgh hospital. Once again, he was not expected to survive but he left that hospital and began his residence at CCC where he brought joy to everyone who knew him. Although Georgie suffered much physical pain during his life, he never complained, except about food: "I'm HUNGRY"! He was a shining example of a faithful servant of God and a true warrior who valiantly faced and overcame his battles. Georgie was the son of George T. Pauley, Sr. and Betty (Kissell) Pauley. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: George J. and Vivian Pauley, his maternal grandparents: John and Mabel Kissell, and his brother-in-law: Ray Madigan. Georgie is survived by his loving parents of Ebensburg, and his sisters: Lori Kelly of Pittsburgh, Lanee’ Madigan of Pittsburgh and Theresa wife of Mike Stine of State College. Georgie is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Corey Pauley, Rachel wife of Chris Rae, Matthew Madigan, Brooke and Emily Stine and his great niece Scarlet Rae and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Georgie was loved by everyone as he always noticed any change in appearance such as new glasses or a haircut and was quick to compliment. He always offered to pray for you in difficult times. Georgie was a former altar server at Holy Name Catholic Church in Ebensburg where he attended for years. He was a pure and gentle soul who enjoyed his watch collection which consisted of 12 wrist watches and 5 pocket watches. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., in Portage. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Monday, July 12, 2021 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Ebensburg, Fr. Brian Warcola, Celebrant. Committal in Holy Name Catholic Cemetery in Ebensburg will be private to the Family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Georgie’s name to the Clelian Heights School, 135 Clelian Heights Lane, Greensburg, PA 15601.
