Obituary for Glenna J. Garis
Garis, Glenna J. - 79 of Portage. Surrounded by her family, she entered into eternal life with her Lord and Savior on March 2, 2014. Born April 8, 1934 in Portage. The daughter of James and Evelyn (Johnson) Morgan. Preceded in death by parents, husband James E. "Gabby" Garis; brother, John C. Morgan, Sr. and an infant brother James. Survived by loving children: Jennifer Miller of Greensburg, Connie wife of Rick Nagy and James "Gabby" Garis all of Portage and granddaughter: Heidi wife of Jason Hasse of Summerhill. Also survived by sister: Darlene wife of Frank Shevock of Sidman and sister-in-law: Janet Morgan and numerous nieces and nephews. Glenna was a kind and caring woman. She never met a stranger. Whether a special occasion or a friendly hello, Glenna enjoyed sending out cards to all that she knew as a way of saying that she was thinking of you. A 1952 graduate of Portage Area Highschool. A lifelong member of First Lutheran Church in Portage and member of WELCA. She was an avid Steelers fan, especially of Terry Bradshaw. Formerly employed by Montgomery Ward and retired from Cambria Residential Services as a caregiver. Family will receive friends from 2-9 PM on Tuesday at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. in Portage and from 10 AM till time of service at 11 AM on Wednesday at First Lutheran Church in Portage, Pastor John J. Palko, officiant. Committal will be private. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Forest Hills Community Band, C/O Joe Dipyatic, 199 Hemlock Drive, Portage, PA 15946 and/or The Family House, 5001 Baum Boulevard, Suite 545, Pittsburgh, PA 15213
