Obituary for Grace E. Brickley
Brickley, Grace E. – 93 of Portage, passed away May 23, 2019 at Maple Winds Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Portage. She was born on July 3, 1925 in Tyrone, daughter of Francis G. and Dorothy (Calderwood) Barner.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dallas Brickley; son, Robert Brickley; sister, Jennie Kruis and husband, Vaughn; brother, Francis Barner, Jr.; brother-in-law, Donald Ellenberger; in-laws, Howard and Susan (Davidson) Brickley; brother-in-law, Harold Brickley and wife, Tille.
Survived by her loving children: Darla Rapski, wife of Neil Rapski, Portage; Roger Brickley and wife Monica (Spaid), Wilmington, DE; and daughter-in-law, Maria (Kunrod) Brickley, Portage; and grandchildren: Karen DeFilippo (Ryan), Youngwood; Matthew Brickley (Tamara) Middletown, DE; Brian Brickley, Wilmington, DE; Chad Brickley (Bridget) Hershey; Erick Brickley (Cindy) Portage; great grandchildren: Logan, Cierra, Hunter, Kaidance, Haley, Hannah, Abby, Aidan, Sam, Jon and Luke. She is also survived by sister, Lolly Ellenberger, Enola and sister-in-law, Beverly Barner, Tyrone; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Grace loved to play bingo and cards, and go on bus trips, and enjoyed cooking and baking. She was a member of the Portage Senior Citizens Center. Most important to Grace was spending time with her family and friends. A special thank you to the staff at Maple Winds for the care given to our mother.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Monday May 27, 2019 at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. of Portage, and on Tuesday May 28, 2019 from 10 AM until an 11 AM Funeral Service at Bethany United Methodist Church in Portage, Pastor Arthur Black, officiant.
Committal in Blair Memorial Park in Bellwood. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Grace’s name to Bethany United Methodist Church and/or the Portage Volunteer Fire Company. On-line condolences may be made at www.decortfh.com
