Kerch, Ida M. 87 of Portage, passed away on June 13, 2024 in Sidman. She was born on January 12, 1937 in Portage Township. Ida was the daughter of Ellsworth and Ida (Odenthal) Pauley. She is preceded in death by her husband, Steve Kerch and her sisters, Donna Engle and Shirley Hazlett.
Ida is survived by her children, Steve Kerch and wife Deborah (Kiel) of Greenville, Jeffry Kerch and wife Wendy (Whitcomb) of Portage, Susan wife of Kenneth Schaffranek of Summerhill, Martin Kerch and wife Brenda (Smith) of Portage and Daniel Kerch and wife Sondra (Wilcox) of Portage. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Mary (Nick), Tia (Erik), Susan, Kimberly (Joe), Kayla (Scott), Jamie (Stacy), Linsey (Gerald), Krista (Casey), Kelli (Dan), Bailey (Savannah) and Noah (Lena) and great grandchildren, Connor, Brock, Eli, Scarlett, Rae, Ben, Lydia, Avery, Tobias, Isaac, Evie, Izzy, Locklyn, Colton, Mason and Liam.
Ida was the sister of Kay Pohopin of Portage, Joyce Borden of Mansassas, VA, Ellsworth Pauley of Portage and Ron “Spike” Pauley and wife Linda of Davidsville.
Ida was a U.S. Navy Veteran. She was a faithful and active member of First Lutheran Church in Portage, where she was a past council member, Sunday school teacher and member of WELCA. She enjoyed cooking for various church functions with her sisters and church family. Ida also served as a past Judge of Elections for her precinct. In the past, Ida enjoyed reading, bus trips with her husband Steve and spending time with her grandchildren. She and her family enjoyed many good times at “Camp Sunshine”, the Pauley Family Camp, in Bedford.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM on Monday, June 17th, 2024 at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. in Portage. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, June 18th, 2024 at First Lutheran Church in Portage, Pastor Nancy Hoover, Officiant. Committal in South Fork Cemetery.
