Obituary for Jacqueline M. Castel
54 of Flinton, PA, passed away on June 26, 2021 in Elizabeth City, NC. She was born on February 23, 1967 in Spring Valley, NY. Jackie was the daughter of David L. and Judy M. (Berkey) Castel. She is survived by her loving parents of Duncansville, PA, her sisters: Debra Castel of Alexandria, VA and Pamela (Patrick) Perkins of Atlanta, GA, her nieces and nephews: Ryan, Brigitta (Ian), Seth, Hannah, Emily and Naomi and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Jackie served her Country proudly as a U.S. Army Veteran with over 22 years of service with her latest assignments being with the United States Embassies in the Philippines, Moldova, and Germany. After her military career, she also worked at Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C. and James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona, PA. Jackie received her Bachelor of Science degree in 2018 from Saint Francis University, Loretto PA. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her faithful pet companions Alexis, Stuart and Albert. Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 9, 2021 at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home in Portage, PA with Pastors John Leatherman and Patrick Perkins, officiants. Military Honors to be provided by the Portage Ritual Team. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jackie’s name may be made to the Pennsylvania Veterans Foundation or Happy Paws Happy Homes.
