Obituary for James Kauffman
KAUFFMAN – James E., 87, South Fork, passed away Feb. 20, 2016, at home. Born Jan. 17, 1929, in Johnstown, son of James and Ruth (Adams) Kauffman. Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Betty Saylor and Janet Kauffman; and nephew, Daniel Kauffman. Survived by loving wife of 57 years, Nila E. (Reighard) Kauffman. Also survived by brother, Dennis R. Kauffman, and wife, Mary, New Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews. James was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War and a member of DAV. He retired as a master electrician with many years of service. James also was an avid Ham Radio Operator, photographer and mechanic and handyman. Jim and Nila enjoyed fishing, camping, swimming and traveling. There will be no viewing or visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The Kauffman family is being served by Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Portage.
