Obituary for Jeffrey A. Arpino
Arpino, Jeffrey A. – 57 of Altoona, passed away on December 8, 2020 at home due to Covid-19. He was born on July 17, 1963 in Johnstown. He was the son of Anthony and Patricia (Babyak) Arpino. Jeffrey is preceded in death by his father, and an infant brother Anthony Michael. He is survived by his son: Isaiah Arpino and his wife Holly of Altoona and his daughter: Sarah Langguth and husband Steffan of Pittsburgh; his mother: Patricia Arpino of Portage; his sister: Michele Coukart of Portage, his nephews and niece: Zachary, Nicole and Anthony Coukart; his former spouse: Denise Arpino of Altoona; his uncle Michael Babyak and his wife Linda of Portage; and numerous cousins. Jeffrey is also survived by his friend: Jacob Sadowsky of Altoona. Jeffrey was inspired by Mrs. Rhea Hornyak to play the piano and organ, and started accompanying masses at age 14. He played the organ for churches all over Cambria and Blair Counties including: St. Joseph’s in Portage, St John’s in Portage, St Francis Xavier in Cresson, Simpson-Temple United Parish in Altoona, St. Joseph’s in Bellwood, and dedicated the past 23 years of his life serving as the Director of Sacred Music at Sacred Heart Parish in Altoona. Aside from sharing his musical talents with the community, Jeffrey had a love for gardening, collecting antiques, decorating and hosting family holidays and gatherings. He worked for Portage National Bank for 29 years and spent the last 9 years as a bus dispatcher for Student Transportation of America. Due to Covid-19, viewing and services will be private to the immediate family. A Celebration of Life and Memorial Mass will be held at a future date. The Arpino Family is being served by the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home Inc. of Portage. Memorial contributions may be made in Jeffrey’s name to Sacred Heart Parish’s Music Program, 511 20th Street, Altoona, PA 16602.
