Obituary for Joann J. Kisic
Kisic, Joann J. – 85 of Portage, passed away on August 21, 2022 at home. She was born on December 26, 1936 in Portage. Joann was the daughter of Joseph “Tut” Krisko, Sr. and Mary (Sikora) Krisko. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph Kisic, Sr. and her siblings: Gary, Joseph, Tom and Louise.
Joann is survived by her loving children: Chris wife of Michael Duman of Poquoson, VA and Joseph Kisic of State College, PA. She is also survived by her 3 grandsons, whom she loved dearly: Ben, Nate, and Zack Duman and 9 great grandchildren and 1 on the way.
She was the sister of Eugene Krisko of Portage.
Joann’s Polish Heritage was important to her. She was a life-long member of the former Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Polish Catholic Church in Portage. She was a retired employee of the Portage Area School District, where she served as the guidance counselor secretary in the High School. She enjoyed camping, boating and cooking polish food. Joann’s happy place was being at home in “Skunk Hollow” and spending time with her family. She was an avid Steelers and Pirates Fan.
She made many trips to Virginia throughout the years to spend time with her 3 grandsons. She was a significant part of their lives and she will be missed. Joann was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who gave endless support to her family.
Family will receive a reception of friends from 2PM until time of 4PM Service on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. in Portage, Fr. Thomas Stabile. Graveside Committal Service will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Portage. Entombment in Sacred Heart Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Joann’s name to Bishop Carroll Catholic Highschool, 728 Benjamin Franklin Highway, Ebensburg, PA 15931 and/or the Sister Servants of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, 1872 Munster Road, Portage, PA 15946.
