Obituary for JoAnne J. Byich
Byich, JoAnne Jean (Barr), 88 of Portage, formerly of Nanty Glo, passed March 19, 2024 at Beacon Ridge Nursing Home in Indiana. She was born on April 4, 1935 in Johnstown. JoAnne was the daughter of Joseph and Charlotte (Carlson) Barr. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Pete Byich, Grandsons, Chad Schilling, Cory Byich, and Ryan Byich, and a sister, Donna Mabry.
She is survived by her children Pamela Schilling (David McCabe), Kevin Byich (Ann), Timothy Byich (Maria) and Peter Byich (Bridgett) and her grandchildren Justin Schilling (Ali), Bristy Perry (Matt), Jessica Smith (Kevan), PJ Byich (Steph), Megan Link (Kyle), Noah Byich, and Sophia Byich, and 13 great grandchildren. JoAnne is also survived by her sisters Martha Gongloff and Charlotte Westrick (Robert), and a brother John Barr (Patty) and numerous nieces and nephews.
JoAnne was a graduate of Conemaugh School of Nursing and retired from the Ebensburg Care Center where she worked as an RN. She was a very generous and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and friend to all who knew her.
