Ronan, John B. – 43 of Portage, passed away on September 28, 2021 at home. He was born on October 13, 1977 in Killeen, TX. John was the son of Janice (Behe) Thompson, Bruce Richardson and Timothy Ronan. He is preceded in death by his Grandparents: John and Nancy Behe, George and Marty Richardson and William and Emma Ronan. He is also preceded in death by his Step-father: Winston Thompson and his Step-mother: Cassie Richardson.
John is survived by his parents, his wife: Dorothy “Dottie” Ronan and his stepchildren: William Simpson of Etters, PA and Zina Bass of Harrisburg, PA. John was the brother of Courtney Ronan, Kari Richardson, Melissa Richardson and Michael Richardson (Sara Burda) all of Portage. He is a nieces and nephews, who loved him dearly: Alexis, Alivia, Pasley, Kaylee, Corbin and Ganyn, and his stepgrandchildren: Jordan, Ahlesia, Kye, Jayle and Devin and his step great-grandson: Kannon.
John loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and riding his ATV. He enjoyed shooting pool with his friends and he watching the Raiders and Steelers games. John liked watching wrestling, going to matches and dressing up as the Undertaker. Most important to John was his family and spending time with them.
Family will receive friends Friday, October 1, 2021 from 11 AM until time of Funeral Service at 1 PM at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. in Portage, Reverend Kevin McCabe, officiant. Committal will be private to the family. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made in John’s name to help with final funeral expenses.
