Obituary for John E. "Jack" Kick
Kick, John E. "Jack" - 70 of Portage, Passed away February 7, 2015 in Pittsburgh. Born August 5, 1944 in Ehrenfeld. The son of Clement "Hook" and Reba (Crum) Kick. Preceded in death by parents, wife Rae (Navatsky) Spaid-Kick and brothers: Clement, Jr. and Robert "Bob" Kick. Survived by siblings: Patricia Minor, of Portage; Thomas "Lee" Kick and wife Shirley; Betty Bieniewicz, both of Warren Michigan; Dora wife of Paul Smith; and Donald Kick and wife Linda all of Portage. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was a Vietnam Veteran, stationed with the 573rd S & S Detachment Team at Pleiker, South Vietnam. He completed his basic training at Fort Jackson, SC, and he served from 1967 to 1969 with the United States Army. Jack was formerly employed at ABC Landscaping and Zayre Department Store in VA. He also worked at Arlington National Cemetery in Falls Church, VA. He was a loving brother, who will be missed by family and special friends, Gary, Art and Bob. He was a member of the American Legion Post #430 and the Veterans of Foreign War Post #895 both of Portage. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Monday at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. of Portage, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM. Committal will be held at St. Bartholomew Cemetery in Wilmore with Graveside Military Honors.
