Obituary for Butch Crynock
Crynock, John R. “Butch”- 94 of Portage, passed away on January 26, 2023 at home. He was born on November 7, 1928 in Gallitzin. He was the son of John and Genevieve (Stitko) Crynock. Butch is preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter: Sheri Ratosky and his siblings: Edward and Paul Crynock, Mary Knee and Helen Inauzzi.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Mary K. (Melotti) Crynock of Portage, who he married on December 2, 1950. He is also survived by his children: Kathy wife of Dennis Ratosky, Sr.; John Crynock “Bino” and wife Bonnie (Yacisin) and Scott Crynock and significant other, Roxanne Beri all of Portage and his grandchildren: Dennis Ratosky Jr., Robert Crynock (Lisa) and Timothy Crynock (Marley) and his great grandchildren: Brady Ratosky and fiance’ Megan Berardinelli, Braxton Ratosky and Avery and Haley Crynock.
Butch was a carpenter and formerly a coal miner and general contractor. He was a US Army Korean War Veteran. Butch enjoyed being in the great outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, cutting wood and playing horseshoes. He was a member of the Benscreek Social and Citizens Club and The Benscreek Wildlife Association. He was also a member of the Bear Rock Sportsmans, Portage American Legion and T.A.P.
Family will receive friends from 3 to 8 PM on Monday, January 30, 2023 at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. in Portage. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Wilmore, Fr. Joseph Nale, Celebrant. Committal in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Cresson.
