Obituary for Kathryn E. Reed
Reed, Kathryn E. -102 of Portage Township, formerly of Ebensburg. Passed away on June 28, 2015 in Johnstown. Born January 24, 1913 in Clearfield County. The daughter of Harry and Sara Jane (Walker) Bouch. Preceded in death by parents and husband: Ralph E. Reed and her siblings. Kathryn is the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her children: Beverly A. wife of George Bowman of Bedford, Sally L. Rush of Portage and Robert T. Reed and wife Andrea of Hollidaysburg. Also survived by her grandchildren: George D. Bowman (Diane) of Belsano; Ralph E. Bowman of Schellsburg; Margaret L. Bowen of Grayson, GA; Alayna J. Holmes (David) of Charlotte, NC; Christine J. Cerwensky (Fred) of Portage; Melissa A. Hanyok of Everett, Denise L. Hudson (Tony) of Webster, TX; Brian T. Reed (Cindy) of Pass Christian, MS; Karin E. Reed of Montrose, PA, Shane A. Anderson of Hollidaysburg and numerous great grand, great great grandchildren and a great great great grandchild. Kathryn is the oldest and the longest member of the Ebensburg United Methodist Church where she was active in the womans ministry. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, The Dames of Malta. Kathryn was a former cook for the Mylo Grade School and Central Cambria Highschool. She retired from after many years of service as a cook from the Ebensburg Center. She loved to travel, crochet and bake, but most importantly she loved spending time with her family. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc of Portage and from 10 AM until time of Service at 11 AM on Thursday at the Ebensburg United Methodist Church, Pastor Arthur Black, officiant. Committal in Lloyd Cemetery in Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Kathryns name to Ebensburg United Methodist Church, Bethany United Methodist Church in Portage and/or the American Cancer Society.
