Obituary for Leo J. Gressick, Sr.
Gressick, Leo James Sr., 52, Portage, passed away June 20, 2012, at home. Born May 24, 1960, in Johnstown, son of Paul V. and Ethel (Freidhof) Gressick. Preceded in death by grandparents; father-in-law, Cyril Fisher; sister-in-law, Vicki Dovala; and nephew, Steven Gressick. Survived by parents; loving wife of 28 years, the former Karen Fisher; children, Leo Gressick Jr., and wife, Samantha, Charleston, S.C.; Bill Gressick, Portage; Katie Gressick, and friend, Isaac Kegg, Windber; and grandson, Chase James Gressick. Brother of Paul V. Gressick, and wife, Bonnie; Mary Jane Krug; John Gressick, and wife, Julia; Carol, wife of Melvin Lee Jr.; and Alice, wife of Joe Lee, all of Portage. Also survived by brother-in-law and good friend, Mike Krug; mother-in-law, Eleanor Fisher; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws and faithful pets. Leo was a 1979 graduate of Portage Area High School. His passion was farming and he loved to work especially construction. He loved wildlife, was an avid hunter and enjoyed taking fishing trips to the Outer Banks. Family will receive friends from noon to 4 p.m. and from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Portage, Father Walter Moll, celebrant. Committal, St. Bartholomew Cemetery, Wilmore. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Leo's name to the family for a charity of their choice.
