Obituary for Marilyn A. Layo
Layo, Marilyn A. - 84 of Portage. Passed away September 8, 2012 at the Village at Morrison Cove in Martinsburg. Born April 7, 1928 in Portage. The daughter of Charles and Elma (Doyle) Miller. Preceded in death by parents and these siblings: Helen Kenny, Charles "Bud" Miller, Robert Miller, Ruth Kimlin, Mid Cullen and John "Jack" Miller. Survived by loving husband of 63 years, Edward W. Layo and these children: Pamela Ellis of Portage, William Layo and wife Linda (Murray) of Clarks Summit, PA, Richard Layo and wife Kathy (McHenry) of Allison Park, PA and Edward Layo and wife Frances (Franey) of Gaithersburg, MD. 12 grandchildren: Jennifer (James) Burda, Amanda Ellis, Frank (Jennifer) Pagnotti, William Layo, Raymond (Adrieene) Layo, Lisa Layo, Scott (Katie) Pagnotti, Brandon Layo, Daniel Layo, Marc Pagnotti, Samantha Layo and Derek Layo, 6 great grandchildren: Jordan, Taylor and Jeremy Burda, Cole Ellis, Dylan Pagnotti and Colin Layo. Sister of Richard Miller of Portage. Also survived by sisters-in-law: Rose wife of the late Fred Layo, Stella Grecek, Eleanor wife of the late Joseph Layo and Lillian wife of the late John Miller. Marilyn was a former secretary at the Portage Area School District where she served for 30 years. She loved music and she loved to dance. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and she enjoyed spending time with her family. At Marilyns request there will be no viewing or visitation. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on Friday September 14, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Portage, Fr. Walter Moll, Celebrant. Entombment will be held at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Portage. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Marilyns names to St. Judes and or Southern Health Care Hospice. The family would like to express a special thank you to Southern Heath Care Hospice caregivers: Linda, Kathi and Elizabeth and to Marilyns caregivers Justine, Linda, Sue, Lorrie and Gloria.
