Obituary for Mary Scarton
Scarton, Mary -100 of Portage. Passed away on February 26, 2015 in Hastings. Born November 11, 1914 in Lentioni, Italy. The daughter of Pompeo and Benedetta (Ferrighetto) Scarton. Preceded in death by parents and siblings: Oliver, Cita, Maynard, Inez and John Scarton. Survived by sister-in-law: Jean (Spaid) Scarton, Special nephew David Scarton, both of Pittsburgh and special extended family and friends: Dick and Becky Prostejovsky of Ebensburg and Rena Saccol of Portage. She was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was an avid gardner, she loved people and she was very appreciative of the little things in life and to all who helped her. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Monday at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. in Portage. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Portage, Fr. Joseph Janiszeski, celebrant. Committal in St. Bartholomew Church Cemetery in Wilmore. In lieu of flowers it was Mary's wish that memorial contributions be made to the Portage Area Ambulance Association.
