Obituary for Michael J. Mandichak
Mandichak, Michael Joseph, "Juiceman" - 39 of Portage. Passed away on December 2, 2013 at home of natural causes due to a life long heart condition. Born November 7, 1974 in Johnstown. The son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Novotny) Mandichak, Jr. Preceded in death by grandparents, great aunt Mildred, and two first-cousins. Survived by parents; sister; Jo Beth, nephew; Corey and niece; Lauren, all of Portage. Mike was a 1992 graduate of Portage Area High School, and a 1997 graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelors Degree in Telecommunications, with his focus on Broadcast-Cable Production Management. He enjoyed television production, video editing, railroading, and designing websites. He was a life member of Ss. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Portage. He served his parish by creating and maintaining the parish website, compiling and printing weekly bulletins, singing with the parish choir and performing several other tasks. Mike would like to acknowledge and give thanks to the late Fr. Ronald Yogus, for having a great impact on his spiritual life and for taking the time to offer friendship, advice and emotional support with understanding. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. where Parastas will be prayed at 7:30 PM that evening. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 AM on Thursday at Ss. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Fr. James Spontak, Celebrant. Interment will be held in the church cemetery. In Lieu of flowers Mike asked that donations be made to the family and/or Ss. Peter & Paul Church Cemetery Fund. "Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else."
