GIRARD - Michael P., 87, Portage, formerly of Michigan, passed away Oct. 17, 2015, in Portage. Born May 22, 1928, in Lilly, son of Anthony and Rose (Marsh) Girard. Preceded in death by parents; wife ,Bessie M. Girard; grandson, Bryan Mihalick; son-in-law, Charles Elchin; brother, Joseph Girard; and stepbrother, Dominic Scaromizzino. Survived by daughters, Mary Louise Elchin, Jamestown; Rosann, wife of Tom Johnson, Freeport; and Diane, wife of George Mihalick, Irwin; grandchildren, Jason (Dawn), Matt (Becky), Justin, Kristy, Kellie and Tina (Paul); and great-grandchildren, Ben, Chase and Noah Elchin and Logan and Chase Marsalko. Also survived by stepsister, Pauline Lynch. Brother of John Girard, Portage; Elmer Girard, Ohio; and Bing Girard, Portage. Michael served his country proudly as a U.S. Army veteran. He was formerly employed as a heavy equipment operator and a machinist, where he lived and worked in Michigan. At Michael's request, there will be no viewing or visitation. Funeral service and committal will be private to the family.
