Obituary for Michele Coukart
Coukart, Michele (Arpino) – 54 of Portage, passed away on November 20, 2023 at John Hopkins Hospital after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on May 28, 1969 in Hastings, PA. Michele was the daughter of Patricia (Babyak) and Anthony Arpino.
She is preceded in death by her father, her brothers: Anthony and Jeffrey Arpino and her grandparents, Mary Ellen (George) and Anthony C. Arpino and Michael and Ann (Mizorek) Babyak. Michele is survived by her Mother Patricia Arpino of Portage, her fiance’ Kevin Sheftic of Portage, her children: Zachary Coukart and his wife Maria, Nicole Coukart and her boyfriend Jake and Anthony Coukart. She is also survived by her nephew, Isaiah Arpino and his wife Holly of Altoona, her niece, Sara wife of Steffan Langguth of Pittsburgh and her ex husband and friend Thomas Coukart.
Michele was a 1987 graduate of Bishop Carroll High School, where she enjoyed playing basketball. She received her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Clarion University. Michele was a dedicated teacher and educator for 32 years and she loved all her students very much.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 6 PM on Sunday, November 26, 2023 at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home Inc. in Portage. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023 at 10 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church in Portage, Fr. Thomas Stabile, celebrant. Committal will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the family to go towards Back Packs for Kids and/or Pancreatic Cancer Research.
