Perry Collins “Chip” Claar, 76, formerly of Portage, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 12, 2024, Martinsburg, PA.
He was the son of the late Taylor and Anna Ruth (Claar) Dodson.
Married for over 56 years, Perry is survived by his devoted wife Janetta (George) Claar, his daughter Colleen and son-in-law Patrick Tully, son Perry Jr. and son Daniel and daughter-in-law Mandi Enedy.
Perry also was blessed with three grandchildren, Jacquelyn Williamson (Alex), Nicholas Tully (Julie) and Alexandra Tully, along with his loving sister Kathliene (Dodson) Treon (Bill).
Perry was retired from a long and successful career at Butterick-McCalls of Altoona. He enjoyed coaching his sons’ baseball teams, golfing, bowling, hunting, skeet shooting, and a bit of fishing. He loved rooting on Penn State, Steelers, Penguin, and Pirate teams, and also video gaming with his sons.
He was a beloved husband, father, pap pap, brother, and friend. We, his family, admired him for all that he accomplished and the man he was. We will miss him terribly but know we will be with him again.
At the Claar Family's request all services will be private to the family.
The family would like to express our gratitude to the wonderful, caring nurses at Homewood Assisted Living in Martinsburg. Your kindness was never overlooked and heartfelt thanks to you all. Though a short stay we also thank Springfield Nursing and Grane Hospice Care for their compassion as well.
