Obituary for Ralph L. "Skip" Decort
Decort, Ralph L. “Skip” – 68 of Portage, passed away on August 14, 2019 in Johnstown after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on August 15, 1950 in Johnstown. He was the son of Ralph and Erma (George) Decort-Mulligan. Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, his son: Thomas J. Decort, his sister: Shirley Fish and his in-laws: Joseph and Ida (Handel) Kovalchek.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife Judy L. (Kovalchek) Decort of Portage, his son: Jason Fulton and wife Bryce of Florida and his grandchildren: Burke and Bergen Fulton of Florida. Ralph is also survived by his brother Calvin “Mike” Decort and wife Carol of Florida, his brother-in-law: Norman Fish and wife Pam of Portage, his sisters-in-law: Shelley wife of Allen Cummings of Nanty Glo and Nancy wife of Bryan Timura of Portage and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ralph was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War where is he served on the USS Perry. He was a retired employee with many years of service at Warnaco. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and golfing and especially going for road trips with his wife Judy.
Family will receive friends from 1PM until time of Funeral Service at 6 PM on Friday, August 16, 2019 at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. of Portage, Pastor Arthur Black, officiant. Committal will be private to the family. Military Rites by the Portage Ritual Team.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Ralph’s name to the American Cancer Society. The family would like to thank Dr. Sbeitan and Dr. Tunio and the Conemaugh Cancer Center and their staff and Dr. Mark Ratchford and the Portage Health Center and their staff for their kindness, care and compassion that they showed Ralph and his wife Judy.
