HANDEL - Richard N., 72, Portage, passed away April 17, 2014, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Jan. 14, 1942, in Benscreek, son of Donald and Ida Handel. Preceded in death by his parents; siblings; and grandson, Justin Scott Handel. Survived by wife, Carolyn (Archinofsky) Handel, Portage; and children, Gregory Handel (Linda), Dover, Pa.; Ronald Handel (Deborah), Dover, Del.; Dennis Handel (Mary), Morrisdale, Pa.; and Kristen Hess (Eric), Pittsburgh. Also survived by grandchildren, Nick, Josh, Becky, Dylan, Maria and Ben Handel; and Kendal, Nathan and Marisa Hess. Brother of Shirley Kearney and Beverly Koshak, both of Portage. At Rich's request, there will be no viewing or visitation. Funeral service was private to the family. The Handel family is being served by Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. of Portage.
