Obituary for Rita L. Eicher
Eicher, Rita L. - 95 of Portage, passed away on January 11, 2020 in Portage. She was born on June 23, 1924 in Lilly. She was the daughter of John and Florence (Earnest) Muldoon. Rita is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl E. Eicher, her son: James W. “Corky” Eicher and her siblings: Elizabeth Schooner, Marie Weakland and Thomas “Tim” Muldoon.
She is survived by her loving son: Carl “Butch” Eicher, Sr. and wife Eileen (Robine) of VA. Rita is also survived by her loving grandchildren: Deborah Hamilton of VA; Carl “Butch” Eicher, Jr. and wife Angela of MD; Melissa Eicher of Portage, Ruth Eicher of Summerhill and her loving great grandchildren: Marie Murray (Kyle) of VA; Ashley Eicher of MD, John Eicher of MD, Emily Eicher of Summerhill and Damian Nihart of Summerhill.
Rita was the sister of Regina “Jean” Leja of Lilly, Anna Mae Wozniak of Lilly and Dorie wife of Fritz Shedlock of Benscreek.
Rita loved to travel in her younger days with her husband Carl and with her friends. Most important to Rita was her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM on Monday, January 13th, 2020 at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc of Portage, where Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 14th, 2020 at 10 AM. Committal in South Fork Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Rebekah Manor and/or 365 Hospice. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and caregivers at Rebekah Manor and to 365 Hospice for the love and the care that they had given to Rita.
