Obituary for Robert I. Spaid
Spaid, Robert I. “Bob” – 83 of Portage, passed away on October 8, 2020 in Portage. He was born on December 22, 1936 in La Jose, PA. He was the son of Norman and Octa (Spencer) Spaid. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Janet M. “Irene” Rocker and his children: Ronald and Rita Spaid. He is also preceded in death by his siblings: Muriel “Jean” Scarton and Harold and Griff Spaid. He is survived by his daughters: Joyce wife of Galen Decort of Portage, Joan wife of Richard McCann and Jane wife of Michael Albertelli both of Windber, his grandchildren: Kimberly wife of Brian Freeman of Washington; Matthew Decort of Portage; Dr. Ryan Decort of Chambersburg and Robert “Robbie” Spaid of Johnsonburg, PA. Bob is also survived by his daughter-in-law: Lisa Spaid of Johnsonburg, Sisters-in-law: Elizabeth “Betty” Spaid of Portage Delores Spaid of Ohio and his step-grandchildren: Kayla wife of Jeff Fockler, Tamra wife of Matt Bauer, all of Windber and Deven McCann of South Bend, IN; and step great-grandchildren: Cooper, Addalynn, Jackson, Suzanne, Liam and Harry. Bob was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was retired from Bethlehem Steel. He was a member of the Benscreek Social and Citizens Club. In his younger days Bob enjoyed deer hunting and spending time at his camp in Mahaffey with his wife Janet, working on his cars and wood working. He also enjoyed watching old western TV shows. At Bob’s request there will be no viewing, visitation or services. Inurnment will be private to the immediate family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 3 International Drive, Suite 200, Rye Brook, NY 10573. The family would like to give a special thank you to Bob's favorite Nurses and Caregivers: Judy, Sandy, Kathy, Jackie, Nicole and Jenn for all the love and care that they gave to him.
