Obituary for Ronald J. Cadwallader, Sr.
Cadwallader, Ronald J., Sr. "Chook" - 71 of Portage. Passed away on October 15, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center. Born March 31, 1942 in Portage. The son of the late John and Margaret (Smerk) Cadwallader. Preceded in death by parents, daughter Tammy and Brother John "Potch" Cadwallader. Survived by loving wife of 48 years: Christine (Simo) Cadwallader and these children: Ronald Jr. and wife Sherry (Maul); Kim wife of Jeff Plummer; Todd Cadwallader and wife Tracie (McCabe) and Robin wife of Wesley Davis. Also survived by grandchildren: Ericca, Ryan, Travis, Tyler and Taylor Cadwallader, Andrew Davis and Marissa Plummer; great granddaughter Ava Cadwallader and sister-in-law: Joan Cadwallader and brother-in-law: Richard Simo. Ron was a member of the UMWA and he worked for Beth Energy Mine #33 of 27 years. He was also a former meter reader for the Portage Water Authority for 10 years and he worked in the hardware department at Stagers Store. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and with grandchildren, fishing, football, especially the New England Patriots and going to the casinos with special friends Ron and Jean Rakar. At the deceased request there will be no viewing or visitation. Family invites you to attend a funeral mass on Friday at 11 AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Hammers Street in Portage, Fr. Joseph Janiszeski, Celebrant. Committal will be private to the family. The Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home, Inc. of Portage is serving the Cadwallader family.
