Obituary for Ronald J. Sossong
Sossong, Ronald J., Sr. 89 of Portage, passed away on July 31, 2023 at home. He was born on October 18, 1933 in Portage. Ron was the son of Gertrude (Enderlein) and Anthony Sossong. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Geraldine (Keslar) Sossong, his brother: Kenneth Sossong and his sister: Agnes Nolan.
Ron is survived by his children: Ronald Sossong Jr. (Darlene), Michele Sossong, Mike Sossong (Cindy), Robin “Moon” Sossong (Sue), Jeffrey Sossong (Bronwyn) and Tiffany Sossong (Jeremiah). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Tabitha, Chad (Kristi), Jessica (Mark), Jason (Erin), Travis (Kelly), Jamie (Brandon), Ashlynn, Aubree and Adalynn, and numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Ron was the brother of Anthony Sossong, Thomas Sossong (Hilda), Raymond Sossong (Vicki), Robert Sossong (Fran), Shirley Davis and Kathleen Bickleman.
Ron was a US Army Korean War Veteran. He was formerly employed by and retired from Bethlehem Mine 33 as a plant foreman.
A funeral service will be held at 4PM on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home Inc. in Portage, Fr. Thomas Stabile. A visitation for family and friends will follow from 4:30PM to 8PM that evening.
Committal will be private to the immediate family.
