Obituary for Scott Flynn
FLYNN - Scott, 34, Johnstown, passed away Dec. 30, 2014, in Johnstown. Born Nov. 11, 1980, in Johnstown, son of Rick and Beverly (Cook) Flynn. Preceded in death by parents; grandmother, Ida Flynn; and brother, Dustin Popish. Survived by mom, Mary (Decker) Flynn; grandfather, Richard Flynn, and special friend, Vernice, Ohio; sisters, Jacki, wife of Jim Thornton; and Jodi Flynn, both of South Fork; and nieces and nephews, Brentton, Brittany, Colton, Kaileb and Keian. Scott was a 2002 graduate of Richland High School and a Special Olympic Gold, Silver and Bronze medalist in track and field. He also was the recipient of the Best of Friends Trophy for balance and horseback riding. He was liked by all that knew him and he touched many people's lives. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., Portage, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Father Alan Thomas. Committal, St. Bartholomew Church Cemetery, Wilmore. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Special Olympics , 1650 Menoher Blvd., Johnstown, Pa. 15905, and/or The PMD Foundation, www.pmdfoundation.org.
