Obituary for Shari Lynn Davis
Davis, Shari Lynn – 53 of Portage was called to her eternal rest joining her brothers: Randy J. and Ryan J. “Mooner” and her faithful canine companion: McEntire on Wednesday, September 26, 2018. She was born on January 6, 1965 in Johnstown.
Shari was the beloved daughter of Ronald “RD” and Shirley (Sossong) Davis of Portage. Along with her brothers, Shari, is also preceded in death by her maternal grandparents: Anthony and Gertrude Sossong and her paternal grandparents: Joseph and Stella Davis. Shari was the beloved sister of Rick and wife Bonnie (Hochrein), Ron and wife Karen (Myher) and Rob and wife Laurie (Ronan) all of Portage. “Aunt Shari” cherished her four nephews: Trevor and fiancée Kelsie Spaid, Bryce, Kyle and Dominic and her two nieces: Camryn and Annelise. She enjoyed attending all functions her nieces and nephews were involved in.
Shari’s warm smile and outgoing personality will always be treasured by her numerous aunts, uncles and cousins as well as her many friends. She attended St. Josephs Catholic grade school in Portage, where she played basketball and was a cheerleader. A 1983 graduate of Portage Area High School, Shari was a proud member of the Lady Mustangs Basketball Program. She also attended and played basketball for Carlowe College in Pittsburgh. Shari formerly lived in the Pittsburgh and Tampa, FL areas before moving back to the Portage area in 2016. She as an avid fan of the Portage Mustangs, Penn State Nittany Lions, Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and Reba McEntire.
The Davis family warmly welcomes all family and friends to Shari’s viewing and visitation at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home Inc., 532 Main Street in Portage on Sunday, September 30th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 1st at 1 o’clock in the afternoon at Holy Family Catholic Church, 509 Caldwell Avenue in Portage, Fr. Thomas Stabile, Celebrant. Committal will be private to the family.
In lieu of flowers, Shari requested that memorial contributions be made to Ascera Care Hospice, 100 CTC Drive, #110, Johnstown, PA 15904. Online condolences may be made at www.decortfh.com
