Stombaugh, Theodore R. "Ray" - 91 of Martindale, entered into eternal life on April 19, 2019 in Portage. He was born on May 9, 1927 in Portage. He was the son of Albert and Agnes (Helsel) Stombaugh.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents and his Granddaughter: Jensen Rose Stombaugh and his siblings: Albert Jr., Harold, Charles, Merle, Velma Hutzell and Lois Brewer.
He is survived by his loving wife: Lucille (Johnson) Stombaugh and their children: Joyce wife of Kevin McCabe of Martindale, Stephen Stombaugh and wife April (Brittin) of Mount Airy, GA; Albert Stombaugh and wife Lauralyn (Walker) of Colorado Springs, CO; Donna wife of Robert Pine of Lawton, OK and Philip Stombaugh and wife Kristen (Stevens) of Billings, MT. Ray is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and his siblings: Shirley wife of Zane Helsel of Blue Knob; Melvin Stombaugh of Keizer, OR; Janet wife of Robert Dorsch of Benscreek; Margie wife of Jim Harper of Cummings, GA and Marlene wife of Jack Cavender of Jefferson, GA.
Ray was an WWII Army Veteran. He served with the Occupational Troops in Germany. He was an ordained minister with the Christian Missionary Alliance Church. He and his wife served for over 32 years in Central and West Africa as Missionaries. Ray also served as Pastor for 4 years with Pottersdale Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Pottersdale, PA . He loved to hunt and fish and he enjoyed all sports, especially, basketball, bowling, tennis and golf. He was a man of strong faith and he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. At Ray’s request there will be no viewing/visitation.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Ray’s Life on Saturday, May 11th, 2019 at 11 AM at the Martindale Christian Missionary Alliance Church, Pastor Ryan Legg, officiant. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Ray’s name to the Martindale Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 174 Alliance Avenue, Portage, PA 15946.
