Obituary for Thomas F. Krisko
Krisko, Thomas F. “Coach” – “Wootz” – 77 of Portage, passed away on May 21, 2022 in Johnstown. He was born on May 26, 1944 at home in Jamestown, Portage Township. Tom was the son of Joseph Sr. and Mary (Sikora) Krisko. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Joseph and Gary Krisko. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Esteline “Martha” (Bacon) Krisko. They were united in marriage on December 21, 1968.
He is also survived by his loving children: Esteline wife of Brad Ruder of Crossville, TN; Damian Krisko and wife Crystal of Purcellville, VA; Dwayne Krisko and wife Laura of Seville, Spain; Merri Myers of Portage and 11 Grandchildren. Tom was the brother of Louise Krisko, Joann Kisic and Eugene Krisko and wife Annette, all of Jamestown.
He was a 1962 graduate of Portage Area High School. Following high school graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He received a scholarship to play football for and attend Catawba College in North Carolina where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Tom was a retired Elementary, Physical Education Teacher from Portage Area School District for more than 30 years. He was also a former football coach for the Portage Area Mustangs taking the team to an undefeated season in 1974. Tom was a lifetime member of the Jamestown Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also taught hunter safety courses.
Family will receive friends from 3 to 7 PM on Thursday, May 26, 2022 and from 10 AM until 11 AM Service on Friday, May 27, 2022 at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. in Portage, Pastor Loni Stankan, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and/or the Alzheimers Association.
