Obituary for Virginia M. Zabrosky
Zabrosky, Virginia M. “Virge” – 91 of Portage, passed away on December 28, 2019 in Altoona. She was born on March 12, 1928 in Johnstown. She was the daughter of Francis and Anna (Chrisko) Roberts. She is preceded in death by her parents, her granddaughter: Erin Casey, her son-in-law: Joe Casey and her brothers: Joe Chrisko, Frank, Edwin, Regis and Leo Roberts.
Virge is survived by her loving husband of 69 years: Walter D. “Merve” Zabrosky of Portage and her loving daughters: Sandy Casey and companion Tom Waskowsky of Portage, Joyce wife of Don “Harry” Benton of Portage and Kristy wife of Dan Haugen of VA and her grandchildren: Jody Casey, Jason Casey and wife Saadia, Jenelle wife of Matt Bienvenue, Justin Benton and wife Lacey, Becky Benton, Alex Illig and wife Rachel, Alyssa wife of Billy Eckert and great grandchildren: Ava, Ashton, Sydney, Gavin and Alyssa. She is also survived by her sister: Helen Garver of Pittsburgh and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Virge enjoyed shopping, trips to the casinos and her daytime soap operas. She was known to many as a well-dressed lady, who loved her “Bling”. Most important to her was her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Virge was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Portage and she and her husband were members of the former Sacred Heart Polish Catholic Church in Portage.
Viewing and Visitation will be private to the immediate family. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at 12PM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 509 Caldwell Avenue in Portage, Fr. Thomas Stabile, Celebrant.
